Know God and make Him known.
This is the one phrase that encapsulates the heart and soul of the global ministries department at First Baptist Church Arlington. We subscribe to a fundamental belief that engaging in mission requires an intimate knowledge of the Father and a dedicated commitment to make that knowledge known among all peoples of the earth. If we are going to lead others to the love of God, we have to love Him ourselves. If we are going to lead others to worship God, we have to worship Him ourselves. If we are going to earnestly seek and desire that God is known among the nations, we must know Him ourselves.
Consequently, we have identified six core missional objectives that are anchored in the desire to know God and make Him known. We are committed to engage in missions through Scripture, Prayer and Study to ensure that we may fully know God. Similarly, we are committed to act in missions through short-term efforts, long-term efforts and home-team support to ensure that we are constantly seeking to make Him known. The details of this website expound upon these objectives and how people can engage at various levels.
However, it would be prudent to explain that global ministries at FBCA is just one component to our missional DNA and this particular website is dedicated only to tell part of the story. Many other ministries at the church are committed to engaging in mission through other avenues. Our church’s approach to mission is complex and broad in scope. The local community of Arlington receives constant attention and service from Mission Arlington. The Christian Women’s Job Corp is dedicated to impacting the lives of women in the area while International Friends hosts the International Community on a weekly basis to provide ESL courses. Moreover, we are also a church that remains committed to its Baptist heritage by contributing to the offerings of Annie Armstrong, Mary Hill Davis and Lottie Moon. Even these additional ministries are just a small sampling of the complex picture of the missional approach at FBCA. The point of this brief overview is to clearly convey that the contents of this website are only a component of all that we do in the arena of missions.
We invite you to explore the additional ministries above to obtain a more holistic picture of our efforts however it is our intent to dedicate the content here to better inform you of our efforts throughout the globe. By providing blog posts from recent trips, photo galleries that capture priceless moments from the field, information on how to obtain cross-cultural training at our church and many other sources of information we hope that you begin to see and consider the many ways that you can know God and make Him known.
Join us, as we continually seek to glorify God by following the Jesus way.
